OUR HISTORY

Bulgarian Pediatrician Association (BPA) was founded in 1961, with the name Republican scientific pediatric society. Since 2015 BPA is registered as an non-profit association of public benefit. The Association brings together pediatricians, general practitioners with pediatrician practice, specialists working in the field of children healthcare, adherents.

Since it was founded, the BPA has held 13 national congresses with international participation as well as many national and regional conferences.

The Association is a regular member of the European Pediatric Association (EPA/UNEPSA), the European Academy of Pediatrics (EAP/UEMS), the International Pediatric Association (IPA) and actively participates in their activities and events. In 2010, BPA became a co-founder of the Union of Pediatric Associations from the Balkan countries. This unique organization includes the pediatric associations of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Slovenia and Turkey.

OUR GOALS

• Improving health care for children. Maintainance and regular update of the qualifications of pediatricians and all health professionals.
• Preservation of good practices in Bulgarian Pediatrics and their development through the dissemination, implementation and adoption of contemporary world scientific achievements.
• Creating an active pediatric community, able to to define and resolve practical, scientific and educational issues related to pediatrics.
• Carrying out a healthcare reform that will lead to improvement of children healthcare.
